Our History

Deer Park Fellowship (DPF) is a confessionally Reformed Baptist church in Newport News, Virginia, planted by Coastal Church (CC).

In early 2019, CC adopted Deer Park Baptist Church (DPBC) — a baptist congregation rooted in the Peninsula community since the 1950s— as a Newport News campus. Both churches voted unanimously to move forward, recognizing DPBC's need for renewal and Coastal's desire to invest in it and revitalize it. CC sent Pastor Joey Tomlinson, a long-time staff member at Coastal, to shepherd the campus through the transition.

After two years of healthy growth, the elders of Coastal cast a vision to plant the campus as a confessionally Reformed Baptist church (2LCF), and in February 2021, Coastal's membership voted to make it official. Deer Park Fellowship was launched in November of that year as an autonomous local church.

The "Deer Park" name was kept intentionally as a tribute to the gospel legacy DPBC had built across the Peninsula over the decades.
